We got ready to do the interviews for this Songpull and my video camera started zooming in all the way by itself. This is the second time at this venue it has been possessed. When I get home it is fine. So the interviews were zoomed out all the way and I had to hold the zoom control button down the whole time. When we went back to film the new songs, I knew that this solution would not work for 10 songs…so I put duct tape around my camera and moved in close to the performers. (It must be the rows of computers at this coffeehouse.) We did our first “encore� song since John Mitchell didn’t have a new song, but had plenty of Songpull songs. He knew the song better and so did we. We had another new member do a Songpull song and later some more originals. We changed the lights and I really think it improved the video, especially when performers were sitting. I put a cool fluorescent bulb inside an empty white kittly litter bucket I use to carry the lights, and put a napkin over it for a gel. It worked great as a cheap light box. This and the duct tape added a certain classy je ne sais quois to the evening.
