About the Song

It's called "Mr. Optimistic". Basically I wrote it after a recent conversation with someone that'd I really liked and it didn't work out because we were in different cities. She always said I was one of the most optimistic people she'd ever met, so the idea of Mr. Optimistic (aka me) being down all of a sudden made for an intriguing song theme, so I went with it. It's one of my more personal songs I've written to date for sure, but sometimes songwriting is the best medicine for heartbreak. Hey, there's a song theme right there!

About the Songwriter

My name is Kevin Ehlers and I'm a recent graduate of Missouri State with a degree in Entertainment Management. Music has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember, with most my friendships developing because of music. My passion for playing guitar started about five years ago when I got my acoustic guitar, but the songwriting bug didn't hit me until my summer living alone in Seattle two years ago. Since that summer, I've written over 20 songs and am currently pulling together musicians for my new band Honest Artist. Besides being a songwriter, I started LemonDrop Records with a friend here in Springfield, MO and write the indie music blog The Pelican's Perch ( www.perchmusic.com).
