About the Song
In the same day, Matt writes and performs a song about his brother, and after a little self-grooming and digging into the past to share his latest band experiences, cuts loose for the group at Songpull I. Click here to hear a full recorded version of this song.
About the Songwriter
Matt Long started playing music at an early age. Starting with the drums, he later moved to guitar, to keep from letting his brother show him up. Matt's been apart of several bands in his young age including, The Rich Kids, The Rhones, Suicide Doors and presently The Springs. He also aggressively pursues a solo career as a singer songwriter playing at any venue that would have him. His desire is to share his songs and/or life experiences with the world. He says that if he writes from the heart, then it will always relate to someone at somepoint. Dec 05, 2007So I just went and posted about how Jason Poe's 'Answers' might be the best Songpull song to date; but I'm gonna go ahead and say we have an official 'tie'. I remember the first time I saw this video/heard this song...I couldn't get enough of it.
Still can't.

Dec 19, 2007I would encourage people to "get to know" Matt Long thru Songpull. I've seen nearly all of his performances in person and now a I realize that videos like this is really what he's like.
The small pause before he starts, to remember his lyrics...writing a song in one day... and it's this good! Playing in whatever order we pick from the hat and delivering exactly what that moment needs. He may be a genius.
I also was at the first National Songpull in Springfield, Mo. where Matt admitted that this song is not about his brother at all. He lied in his interview because the song is about someone else who performed at this very Songpull.
