I was listening to a song on the radio and misheard a lyric – I instantly realized what the correct lyric was. However, what I misheard, “small hand of love,� stuck with me - while neither the correct lyric, nor the song I was listening to managed to stick. The metaphor seemed to fit a relationship that was troubled with loneliness – the real focus of the song.

Just another songwriter bleeding music. In a fit of pique, I threw the baby out the window with the bathwater and spent the next 20 years running from my brother-in-law who, while only having the faculties of one arm and being blind in the right eye, could pick-off a Coor's can at 50 feet with the 9mm he kept strapped to his calf while navigating his '57 Lincoln at highway speeds. Damn fine, shooter he was! But I was a faster draw...
