About the Song
This song attempts to explain why I have been writing more political songs lately. I had a real wrestling match with this song. It didn’t listen to a word I said. It wanted to be 7 ½ minutes long. I wrestled it down to just over 5. It wanted to rant. I twisted its arm until it asked some questions. This song simply would not cooperate. I’m glad it’s done.
About the Songwriter
I have been hosting new song nights for songwriters since January of 1993 with the Songwriters Circle of KC. We celebrate 15 years for the Circle in October of 2007. I figure it was our 178th new song night. We have probably outlasted about 10 coffeehouses where we used to perform. I am working on getting a strong set of songs for my sixth CD this year.

there are people on here going around just to trash other folk's songs. They should be thrown out.
David Hakan, I like your music and Larry Garrett's and Jim Hermann's and Nathan Goldman's. Good music for the ears.

May 18, 2008Janeanne,
It seems that there are people going around this site running down anything with political content. Those people would probably hate Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and John McCutcheon too.
