About the Songwriter
Started performing in 1959 at age 15 for the open mike at the Ten 0’Clock Scholar coffee house in Dinkytown, across from the U of M campus in Minneapolis. (Dylan had played there two years earlier in between Hibbing and New York.) Composed my first song in 1960 (super soppy), inspired by Ricky Nelson. Did my first sharable song (Apple Picnic) in 1975. Performed with Al Waterson as the duo Salt and Pepper (otherwise known as Waterson and Peet) on the Windjammer Cruise in Honolulu in the mid 70s. Played numerous gigs with my wife Libby as the duo Bill and Libby Peet in Central Florida from 2000 to 2004. Have composed one or two songs every five years or so, until inspired by the SSA (Songwriters Showcases of America) in Daytona Beach and the Songwriters Circle in Kansas City, where my output is approaching one a month. I consider “Common Ground,? the song pulled here, to be one of my best, along with “Paris Hilton Justice.?
